River Cities Speedway Fans Ready For Another World of Outlaws Late Model Series Thriller On Friday Night (July 9)

GRAND FORKS, ND – July 7, 2010 – There’s just one question that needs to be answered when the World of Outlaws Late Model Series makes its annual visit to River Cities Speedway on Friday night (July 9).

What kind of wild moment will make the $10,000-to-win, 50-lap A-Main a thriller this year?

No stalwart track on the renowned national tour has consistently produced more memorable action over the past three years than River Cities, a high-banked, blazing-fast quarter-mile oval just south of the Canadian border. Fans have left the track’s spacious grandstands buzzing about what they witnessed and anxious to return for another installment of Outlaw competition.

“River Cities Speedway has become one of the can’t-miss stops for fans of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series,” said tour director Tim Christman. “Ask anyone who follows the series – for three years in a row our event at River Cities has ended up being one of the most exciting races of the entire tour. The track is a perfect size for close, intense racing and that’s why we’re always excited for our trip there.”

A look back at the last three WoO LMS shows at River Cities reveals the type of racing spectators can expect on Friday night.

* In 2007, Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y., put on a spectacular display of traffic driving to win his milestone first-ever WoO LMS A-Main early in his rookie season on the tour. He slipped by Eddie Carrier Jr. for the lead while negotiating a flurry of lapped cars with just four laps remaining and held on to win the 50-lap event – a race that also saw Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., make an unforgettable charge from the 24th starting spot to finish a fast-closing third.

* In 2008, Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wis., became the second straight driver to reach Victory Lane for the first time on the WoO LMS at River Cities with a razor-thin triumph over Babb that ranks as one of the best races in series history. After dueling at the front of the pack for virtually the entire 50-lap distance, the two Midwesterners split a lapped car exiting turn four with the checkered flag waving. Babb ran out of racing room on the outside and crossed the finish line with his car’s right side riding the wall, a scant 0.121 of a second behind Smith.

* Last year River Cities’ big WoO LMS moment came just after the midway point of the A-Main. Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., and Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., were battling for the lead on lap 31 when the slower Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., slid sideways in front of them rounding turn four and bounced into the infield, sending up a huge dust cloud from which Richards and Francis slowly emerged with damage evident to the hoods of their cars. With the caution flag thrown for the dangerous situation caused by Frank’s spin, Richards and Francis maintained their positions at the front of the field for the ensuing restart and Richards stayed there to the finish for one of his series-leading eight victories in 2009.

Fuller, Smith and Richards will be joined by 2006 River Cities WoO LMS winner Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky. – the only driver who’s been victorious in dominant fashion at the track – in Friday’s field. But while they will lead the charge to the North Dakota facility, each enters the event with varying degrees of momentum – Fuller is unsure how hard he’ll be able to race after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Monday afternoon; Smith is looking to break out of a slump that contributed to his recent decision to discontinue following the WoO LMS as a regular; Richards is the tour’s points leader and winningest driver this season heading into the four-race ‘Wild West Tour’ that includes River Cities; and Lanigan sits third in the points standings but is struggling to shed the flat-tire bad luck that has plagued him in 2010.

WoO LMS travelers who will be looking for their first career win at River Cities include 2007 tour titlist Steve Francis; Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., who will compete at the track for the first time since his 2006 WoO LMS championship season; Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., who has won two of last three WoO LMS A-Mains (including $30,000-plus Firecracker 100 on June 26 at Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway); Rick Eckert of York, Pa.; Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga.; Chub Frank; Russell King of Bristolville, Ohio; rookie sensation Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del.; Brent Robinson of Smithfield, Va., and Jill George of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Other drivers expected to compete on Friday are Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, Iowa, Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., and a host of River Cities regulars, including 2010 feature winners Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Man., Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Man., Jeff Provinzino of Hibbing, Minn., Steve Anderson of Grand Forks, N.D., Tom Corcoran of E. Grand Forks, Minn., and James Sangrait Jr. of Park River, N.D.

Hot laps are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. on Fri., July 9, at River Cities Speedway, which also has its weekly NOSA Sprint Cars on the program.

Reserved seats are $28 in advance and $30 on race day, and general admission is $25 with kids 12-and-under admitted for $15.

Additional info on River Cities Speedway is available by logging on to www.rivercitiesspeedway.com or calling 701-780-0999 or 218-773-3002 (tickets).

One Race for All the Marbles: Battle for the Bud Crown Concludes with Kasey’s King of LaSalle Presented By Budweiser

LaSalle, IL-July 7, 2010- What began at Volunteer Speedway back in March comes to a head on Thursday, July 8 at LaSalle Speedway in Illinois as the Showdown for the Bud Crown wraps up with Kasey's King of LaSalle Presented By Budweiser for the World of Outlaws.

Jason Meyers, who leads the series with seven wins, is the current leader in the standings of the four-race mini-series with Paul McMahan second, Steve Kinser third, Donny Schatz fourth and Danny Lasoski fifth. The Top-Three in the Bud Crown standings after the race at LaSalle will share a $15,000 bonus. Meyers currently holds a 36-point advantage over McMahan, with Kinser third, 37 points out of the top spot. Schatz is 37 points out of the third, the final paying position.

Meyers, McMahan, Kinser and Schatz are the only drivers that have finished in the Top-10 in each of the first three rounds of the Showdown for the Bud Crown heading into the event at LaSalle Speedway.

Meyers won the second round of the Showdown for the Bud Crown at Volunteer Speedway after finishing seventh in the opener at the high-banked four-tenths-mile. He ran sixth last week at Missouri State Fair in Round 3. He also has set fast time twice in qualifying during Bud Crown events, which awards points to the drivers in time trials, heat races and the feature.

"You have to always keep the big picture in mind and that's the end of the year," explained Meyers when asked if he need to approach the race at LaSalle any different. "The way you do that is to win races and we go out take each race at a time just like we have been. We ran well there last time in '04 and are looking forward to going back."

McMahan, who leads the series with six fast time honors this season, is taking a similar approach to Meyers. The veteran finished fourth and fifth in the first two rounds of the Showdown for the Bud Crown, and was seventh last week at Missouri State Fair Speedway. He has qualified among the Top-10 in all three of the races during the mini-series, along with finishing in the Top-Two in heat races twice.

"You try not to approach it any different than any other race," said McMahan. "It's great that Kasey (Kahne) and the Outlaws are doing this deal. "They give qualifying points and heat races points so you have to be good every time you hit the track. We just need to go out and qualify well like we have been doing all year long and get into the main event and if it works out, it works out."

Meyers has made just one career start at LaSalle Speedway with that coming in 2004, the last time the World of Outlaws raced at the high-banked ¼-mile. He finished fifth in that race. The veteran has won four times over the years with the World of Outlaws on ¼-mile tracks. Kasey's King of LaSalle will be the fourth race on a ¼-mile bullring for the World of Outlaws this season.

"It's long enough ago, that nothing will really relate to today, but knowledge of the race track as a driver and crew chief will help having been there," noted Meyers. "I think the important thing for D.J. (Lindsey) and I to do is go in there and use our knowledge of the track characteristics and that may help in gear selection. I do remember it's always good racing there and hopefully we'll put a good show on for the fans."

McMahan has made two career starts at LaSalle with the most recent being in 2004, when he finished eighth, in addition to racing at the track in 1997. McMahan, who is currently sixth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of 18 Top-10 finishes, has two Top-Five runs on ¼-miles this season.

"It's been a long time since I've been there and I really don't remember much about the track," stated the California native who now calls Nashville, Tennessee home. "I do remember it was blistering hot there. It should be a great race for the fans and it's a great race track. With NASCAR being in town, we should get a lot of fans over there and put on a great race for them."

Meyers, who is currently third in the World of Outlaws championship standings aboard the GLR Investments KPC, only seven markers out of second and 27 out of the lead, is on top of the leader board in wins this season with seven. He was victorious in the most recent World of Outlaws race last Saturday night at North Central Speedway in Minnesota. He carries plenty of momentum into LaSalle Speedway as he looks to wrap up the Showdown for the Bud Crown title.

"It means a lot to win anything out there," shared the native of Clovis, California. "It's so competitive and so tough out that winning a race, winning a mini point series, winning a race, or winning the championship, it's all very important. It's all very important to our sponsors as well. Anything we can do to put our sponsors name on the top of any list would certainly be a good notch in our belt."

McMahan, who drives for Kasey Kahne, who is co-promoting the event along with the World Racing Group, would like nothing more than to claim the title in the four-race mini-series. McMahan climbed into the Great Clips Maxim at Las Vegas earlier this season to fill in for the injured Cody Darrah.

"It would be really cool to win it," said the veteran driver. "It would be great to win anything that Kasey (Kahne) puts on or is a part of. He really loves sprint car racing and being involved in the sport. Him doing these little things makes it fun for everybody. If I can pull it off and keep the money in-house that would be pretty cool."

On Thursday, July 8 at LaSalle Speedway, tickets for adults are $29 in advance and $35 the day of the race. Children's Reserved Seats (12 years old and younger) are $9. For more information and to purchase tickets call: (704)-795-RACE (7223) or visit www.worldofoutlaws.com/tickets. SuperSport Advance - Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 7, 2010) - The 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport class has produced some of the most exciting racing seen in years. The main cast of riders featured in this year's championship battles have provided so many storylines that it is hard to keep up with everything that has gone on in AMA Pro Road Racing's SuperSport Young Gun rider development class. If the level of talent seen this year in SuperSport is any indication, the future is very bright for AMA Pro Road Racing for many years to come.

The battle will be rejoined at the Honda Super Cycle Weekend Presented by Dunlop Tire, July 16-18 at the legendary Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course where, once again, the main characters will provide what many consider to be some of the best races of any AMA Pro Road Racing weekend. The story of the season involves so many elements, we'll try to give you a snapshot of the who, what and where of what has been, to date, a classic battle royal.

The season got off to a roaring start with Cameron Bueabier taking the first win on the high banks of Daytona by 0.001 of a second over Joey Pascarella. This set the tone for the battle of the teams too, with Bueabier riding for the Rockwall Yamaha team and Pascarella for LTD Yamaha. Race number two at Daytona saw Pascarella and LTD Yamaha take the win and then, with Bueabier and the Rockwall Yamaha team absent from the West Division races at Auto Club Speedway, Pascarella went on a tear with two more dominant wins.

Then the plot changed when, at the next round at Road Atlanta, Pascarella had an unfortunate accident on the warm-up lap  and was prevented from racing in both races. The next rider to take center stage was J.D. Beach, Bueabier's Rockwall Yamaha teammate. Beach took both Road Atlanta race wins after battling mightily with Bueabier who, thanks to a couple of late red flags, could have laid claim to both races himself but took solace in finishing second in race one and third place in race two.

Bueabier then traveled out of his points division to the next race at Infineon Raceway where he took a dominant pole position and looked like he would walk away with the weekend's races but again, a late race red flag once again upset the apple cart and he was beaten to the win in race one by the trailblazing Elena Myers, who took the first AMA Pro Road Racing Sprint race win for a female rider in the history of AMA Pro Racing. Bueabier recovered to take a well deserved win in race two and this set the tone for the next race, at Elkhart Lake's Road America, the mighty 4.05-mile natural road course through the woods of Wisconsin.

While all this was going on, where might you ask was Pascarella? In a move supported by his LTD Yamaha team, Pascarella had switched over to the CNR Racing  DNA Energy Drink Ducati team and he struggled to come to grips with his new machine in the short time he had between races after the switch. As a result, he had two  unfortunate crashes at Infineon and even though he showed flashes of his old form, it was all the other riders needed to reset the balance of power in the SuperSport class. Thanks to his strong start to the season, Pascarella has a nice points lead in the West Division point standings over the tenacious Myers and her solid Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com RMR Suzuki team.

Myers' record-setting season started off with a couple of very impressive and steady seventh place finishes at Daytona. She then showed just how determined a person she is by qualifying on the front row at the next race in California and then moments after the start, she came into contact with another rider and was not only out of the race but had her arm in a sling and her participation in Sunday's race number two in question. But, showing the kind of courage that is now a trademark of her career, she came back on Sunday and not only raced, but she finished in a very determined fourth place.

Moving onto Road Atlanta, she was caught up in the same incident on the warm-up lap in race one that affected Pascarella and once again her participation in race two was in question. But Myers defied the odds and came back to race on Sunday finishing with a fighting fifth after a race-long battle with the quietly impressive Tomas Puerta, another of the solid LTD Yamaha riders.

Myers' big breakthrough came at the very next race at Northern California's Infineon Raceway. She qualified quietly on the outside of the second row on her Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com RMR Suzuki but enjoyed a sensational start and after battling with Pascarella, Bueabier and others, she took a well deserved win after an amazing sequence of events when she took the lead from Beaubier as Pascarella had his accident, which brought out the red flag. This historic achievement was applauded by all and she then got back down to business in race two and battled again for the lead and only contact with another rider in the late stages, saw her finish fifth. A tough weekend at Road America has slowed her sensational season but there is no doubt that she will be back at Mid-Ohio.

Race one at Road America was won by Beach and race two was taken by another main character in the season, Huntley Nash. Also riding for LTD Yamaha, Nash had  a quiet Daytona race in terms of results but he was up among the drafting frontrunners and began to assert himself with a series of strong podium finishes at the next four races. Nash took six top-two or three finishes from the first 10 races and it all came together with his dramatic win at Road America, where he finally realized his potential with his first AMA Pro win. Amazingly enough, Nash is one point behind LTD Yamaha teammate Puerta in the East Division points standings thanks to Puerta's very consistent season.

In a quiet but steady fashion, Puerta has put together an excellent season, with fifth and third place results at Daytona, he skipped the next out of Division race at Auto Club Speedway but came back at Road Atlanta with fifth and fourth place finishes. He again skipped the West Division race at Infineon Raceway to come back at Road America with solid second and third place finishes. He returns to Mid-Ohio looking for his first win in SuperSport.

The other interesting aspect of the SuperSport races is the local Top Gun rider element. This provision allows local riders with an Expert Level Road Racing license to join the series for their own points chase. Local riders have featured already this year, the impressive Scott Gilbert taking a couple of podium finishes at Auto Club Speedway on his family-run Team Graves Yamaha and also Tyler O'Hara finishing third twice at his local race at Infineon Raceway in Northern California.

The Honda Super Cycle Weekend Presented by Dunlop Tire begins with practice and first round qualifying on Friday, July 16. Final qualifying and the first of two races will be on Saturday, July 17th and the second race of the weekend is on Sunday, July 18th. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course provides a park like setting for great viewing and racing, don't miss this opportunity to see the future stars of AMA Pro Road Racing displaying their talents at this classic road racing venue.

Downtown Syracuse New DIRTcar Hot Spot

Mighty Big-Block Modifieds heat up the city streets on historic lunchtime run to officially launch All-Star Weekend and clear path for Super DIRT Week XXXIX in October

Weedsport , NY - July 6, 2010 - In a classic remake of the former DIRT-Asphalt Challenge that prospered some 20 years earlier, the Big-Block boys were at it again in the newest millennium as a handful of high-profile cars & stars from the DIRTcar Northeast circuit toured the paved streets of Syracuse on Tuesday morning.

It was a record-setting day from beginning to end as the first-ever parade of race cars staged in the SaltCity was witnessed by thousands of bystanders on a sweltering day when the heat index approached 110-degrees by afternoon.

The highlight was a 2.3-mile excursion through the city with a police escort leading the decorated group of ground-pounding open-wheel machines steered by DIRTcar favorites Brett Hearn (reigning Mr. DIRT champion), Matt Sheppard (defending Syracuse 200 winner), Ryan Phelps (inaugural All-Star winner), successful Super DIRTcar Series pilot Jimmy Phelps and rising star Michael Storms.

Amidst the extended holiday festivities featuring free autograph and picture-taking sessions, ticket and prize giveaways held throughout the lunch hour, on the scene to chronicle this historic event were numerous members of the media, with cameramen from the three primary Syracuse television outlets and the Associated Press (AP) beat reporter leading the coverage.

"The city of Syracuse opened its arms to DIRTcar Racing leading up to this event and today it certainly wrapped itself around our staff and racers as well as the entire community to create a truly landmark occasion," remarked Jeff Hachmann, DIRTcar Racing Northeast Director of Marketing, Promotions & Sales. "On the eve of our 2nd Annual All-Star Weekend at Cayuga County in nearby Weedsport, downtown was a perfect back drop as we continue to prepare for the biggest event of all --- Super DIRTcar Week at the NYS Fairgrounds in October."

DIRTcar All-Star Weekend II is scheduled to begin July 15 at Brewerton Speedway and conclude July 16-17 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway. The 39 th edition of Super DIRT Week on the famed Syracuse Mile is slated to run Oct. 6-10.

The DIRTcar Northeast main office is located in Weedsport, N.Y. on the Cayuga County Fairgrounds, home of DIRTcar All-Star Weekend. Further ticket and schedule information is available by contacting DIRTcarNE at 315/834-6606 or logging onto www.allstar100weekend.com.  Don't forget to join all the DIRTcar NE tracks (Cayuga County Fair Speedway, RollingWheelsRacewayPark and Canandaigua Speedway) on Facebook and follow DIRTcar Racing on Twitter (@DIRTcarNE).

Danny Lasoski Seeks a Repeat in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30’s at Lernerville Speedway: Double Features Highlight Race Program Again in 2010

Sarver, PA-July 6, 2010- From the first time he turned a wheel at Lernerville Speedway back in 1992, Danny Lasoski has always been fast at the historic four-tenths-mile located in Sarver, Pennsylvania. He had been trying for many years to win at the track, finishing second on four occasions before finally breaking through and reaching Victory Lane last season in the opener of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30's. Coupled with a strong charge from 19th to seventh in the finale, he was crowned the overall Silver Cup winner, adding his name to an illustrious list of drivers that have won the famed event over the years.

Lasoski will return to Lernerville Speedway along with the rest of the World of Outlaws on Tuesday, July 20 for the 19th Edition of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, which again this season will have Twin-30 lap features, with the second feature lined up by an inversion of the finish of the opener, which proved to be a very popular format with the fans last season. The event remains the single richest one-day show on the circuit, with one driving having a shot at taking home $30,000 if they were to win both ends of the Twin 30's.

The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is also the only time all season that fans will have the chance to see two full A-Feature events in one night, with the best sprint car drivers in the world doing battle for a total of 60-laps of racing.

"The Silver Cup is definitely one we'll always cherish," said Lasoski of his win in the event last season. "Don Martin was such a great promoter and a great person, so to win that thing will always hold a special place to me. Gary Risch and his people do a fantastic job over there now. We always look forward to going to Lernerville and especially the Silver Cup. It's pretty neat for the fans to get to see two races in one night."

Lasoski has 25 career Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws at Lernerville Speedway in 28 starts, with 13 of those being Top-Five performances. He has finished in the Top-10 in 10 of his last 11 starts at the track. In his career with the series at Lernerville he has an average finish of 6.6, which is second only to 20-time series champion Steve Kinser among the drivers competing full-time with the series this season.

"Lernerville is a very unique track and they always have the surface prepared well," Lasoski noted. "You can race the top, the middle and the bottom. There are always multiple grooves. Last year we had our car working pretty good over there."

Last year marked the first time in quite a few years that a World of Outlaws event was a Twin Feature. The Silver Cup will be the second inverted race for the series this season as the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic at Knoxville Raceway followed that format earlier this season, with the finale lined up by an inversion of the Top-20 finishers in the opener, though the features were held over the course of two days. A couple of drivers were able to charge from the back to front in that event and last year at Lernerville, Lasoski passed 12 cars in the second segment to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award coming from the 19th starting spot to finish seventh.

"You have to watch the track, especially between the features and be able to make adjustments," explained the 2001 series champion of the Twin feature format at the Silver Cup. "We were able to work on the car last year and made the right changes to work our way to the front in the second feature. They reworked the track after the first feature which helped quite a bit."

Lasoski is still in search of his first World of Outlaws win of the 2010 season aboard the Casey's General Store JEI, nearly picking it up at I-96 Speedway in Michigan back in May, leading the first 24 laps of that contest before he lost a rear end. The native of Dover Missouri, who will be one of four former series titlists competing in the Silver Cup, is just outside of the Top-10 in the series standings this season on the strength of 14 Top-10 finishes.

"We've been close a few times this year and just have not had the breaks go our way," he stated. "To win out here, you have to be fast, be in the right spot at the right time, have a little luck as well and have a strong team, which we have here. Hopefully we can take advantage of everything at Lernerville and come out on top again."

The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is one of the traditional events of "The Month of Money" for the World of Outlaws which runs from the middle of July until early August. If Lasoski is able to win the Silver Cup again this season, he would join Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Donny Schatz and Mark Kinser as a multi-time winner of the famed event.

"The summer months is definitely when you want to be clicking on all cylinders with all of the big races on the schedule," Lasoski said. "We have done well in a number of the big ones over the years and would like nothing more than to win another Silver Cup."

Along with earning $15,000 for his win in the opener of the Twin 30's last year, Lasoski earned the traditional Silver Cup, along with a unique trophy for claiming the overall event title. He would like nothing more than to stand in Victory Lane again with the big check and another prized trophy.

"Last year we got the shotgun trophy, this year maybe we'll get a machine gun," quipped Lasoski with a smile.

Tickets for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30's can be purchased online by visiting www.WorldofOutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 704-795-7723. On Tuesday, July 20, general admission tickets will be $29, with reserved tickets $35. Children ages 10-under will be admitted free of charge to the general admission section. Advance reserved tickets include a FREE pit pass upgrade.
