Hanniford
Test at the New Florence Motor Speedway
Timmonsville, SC (April 12, 2005) – The team of Hanniford
Motorsports have been working hard to get their new car ready for the 2005
season. Putting a new car together is
almost as large a task as winning a race.
It couldn’t be done without a lot of financial help from family,
friends and sponsors. Hanniford
Motorsports is a family affair hoping to someday race in a major league
series such as the NEXTEL Cup, but their focus at the present is returning to
the United Auto Racing Association late model touring series.
The UARA series will be racing this weekend at the New
Florence Motor Speedway. Considered
their hometown track, Dange Hanniford and team members finally got the engine
in the car, loaded it up and headed for the speedway for a test session
before this weekends race. Dange
stated he’d got about a hundred laps on the car. The test session gave them good measurements and confidence
that they’d be in contention when the flag drops Saturday evening. The car ran great and we ran some really,
fast lap times on the new asphalt.
It’s going to be an exciting race and it’ll be something that the
local race fans will get a thrill from.
Dange also expressed his appreciation for the support from Robert
Elliott in supplying the engine for the Hanniford Motorsports Monte
Carlo.
Robert Elliott will also be in contention with other
South Carolina drivers, Danny Efland, Nick Hutchins and others.
Hanniford to make comeback in UARA STARS
Although 2003 UARA Stars competitor Dange Hanniford took
the 2004 season off from driving, he was still involved with racing.
Hanniford went to work for the first year Hooters Pro Cup team of Randy
Humphrey. Close to the midpoint of the 2004 Pro Cup season, Dange received an
offer from Ricky Benton to become car chief for rookie driver Matt Carter.
Dange, along with crew chief Mike Hester guided Matt to the 2004 Miller Light
Rookie of the Year award. For the 2005 racing season, Dange has decided to
focus on his own racing career. He has a new car from builder Jay Hedgecock
ordered and has been working with Joey Robinson on a motor program.
Wes Page will continue
building Hanniford's shocks. The Hanniford Motorsports crew hopes
to have everything ready to debut at the second race of the UARA season,
Florence Motor Speedway. Dange completed his rookie season here and is
confident about having a good run. At Florence he has one win, several poles,
and numerous top five finishes. The 2005 season is sure to be a special year
for the entire Hanniford Motorsports crew.

Comments
Darlington, SC (10/20/2003) - It was definitely an up and
down weekend for the Hanniford Motorsports race team. After a lot of hard
work and changes to the car since the last race at the Myrtle Beach Speedway,
the team got off to a good start at Coastal Plains Raceway. After a very good
practice session Friday night, Dange and the entire team were very confident
going in to Saturdays race.
In qualifying Dange ran a 16.21 which would put him
starting fourth only to be out done by recent Taco Bell 300 winner Jamie
Caudill. Local Bentley Cecil and Stephen Gahagan rounded out the top three.
At the drop of the green Dange settled into fourth place
behind Caudill, Gahagan and Cecil. All the changes made to the car were
definitely paying off and hopefully in line for a top three finish or maybe
Dange's first UARA -STARS win. Everything was looking good until lap 38 when
a lapped car put down some water on the racetrack and caused second place
Bentley Cecil to spin.
While Dange checked up getting in to turn three, the
fifth place car of Todd Massey did not . Massey plowed into the back of the
SCMSRN.COM Monte Carlo causing severe damage to the rear of the car and major
suspension damage on the left front. Although Massey fell out with heavy
front end damage, Dange was able to continue with a very ill handling car and
brought the SCMSRN.COM Monte Carlo home in 12th place. This finish should
still allow him to hold on to third place in the points.
Dange and the Hanniford
Motorsports team will be looking to improve their efforts in the next
UARA-Stars event on November 1st, at Orange Co Speedway in Roudgemont, NC.
