CLEARFIELD, PA - July 27, 2010 - Don’t call Darrell Lanigan
the ‘Bluegrass Bridesmaid’ any longer.
Snapping his unprecedented streak of four consecutive runner-up finishes on the
World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Lanigan kicked off the national tour’s
Ohio-Pennsylvania Speedweek on Tuesday night with a victory in the ‘Fear The
Bear 40’ at Central PA Speedway.
Lanigan, 40, of Union, Ky., advanced from the third starting spot to take the
lead from Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., on lap six and never looked back.
Racing in front of a standing-room-only crowd that turned out for the
first-ever WoO LMS event at Tim Bainey Sr.’s four-tenths-mile oval, the 2008
tour champion survived four caution flags and an early threat from Shane
Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., to register his long-awaited second series win of
2010.
Clanton settled for second place in his RSD Enterprises Rocket car, a distant
2.308 seconds behind Lanigan’s GottaRace.com Rocket at the finish.
Fifth-starter Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., was several car lengths farther
back in third at the checkered flag in his Valvoline Rocket, Rick Eckert of
York, Pa., placed fourth after running as high as second in his Team Zero by
Bloomquist mount and defending WoO LMS champion and current points leader Josh
Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., completed the top five with a steady-but-quiet
run in his Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket.
“It feels great to get that second-place jinx off us,” said Lanigan, who
finished second in all four A-Mains contested during the recent ‘Wild West
Tour.’ “Our car’s been good, but we just needed a little luck. Maybe things
changed a little bit for the better tonight.”
Lanigan earned $8,600 for his 14th career WoO LMS victory and first since March
19 at Ocala (Fla.) Speedway. He scored nine runner-up finishes between his two
wins this season, including six in the 10 races prior to Tuesday’s stop at
Central PA.
Lanigan’s post-race prizes also included one of the track’s trademark
three-foot-tall wooden ‘Big Bear’ carvings and a fresh six-pound cheeseburger
from Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub, the local restaurant that has earned national
attention for its menu featuring out-sized burgers.
Now a winner of two A-Mains in each WoO LMS campaign since 2004, Lanigan felt
very comfortable circling Central PA Speedway for the first time in his career.
“This track kind of fit our program pretty good – big track with sweeping, wide
corners,” Lanigan said of Central PA, which operated with a paved surface for
20 years until being covered by dirt prior to the 2006 season. “The setup we’ve
been running lately works good on a place like this. I could just run through
the middle without a problem.”
Lanigan was only briefly challenged by Clanton, who needed just six laps to
hustle from the ninth starting spot to second. He vaulted from fifth to second
in a single lap following a lap-six restart and nearly ran into the rear bumper
of Lanigan’s car when he charged hard off the outside of turn four on lap 13,
but that was as close as he got to the lead.
Clanton, 34, lost second to Eckert on a lap-15 restart. He regained the
position on lap 21 and stayed there to the finish, but he couldn’t summon the
speed to compete with Lanigan.
“He went a little harder on right-rear tire than I did,” Clanton said of
Lanigan. “I knew where we were starting we had to go at the beginning. I
thought I could get (past Lanigan) and then just ride, but I didn’t – and then
at the end I just had to ride behind him.”
Lanigan’s victory moved him within 36 points of Richards in the WoO LMS points
standings after 29 of a scheduled 47 events. Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y.,
was left 26 points behind Richards in second after settling for a ninth-place
finish.
Rookie Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del., finished sixth, slipping forward from
the 11th starting spot. Frank faded to a seventh-place finish after starting on
the pole and leading laps 1-5, while his cousin, Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs, also of
Bear Lake, Pa., was eighth to earn the $500 ‘Bonus Bucks’ cash for being the
highest-finishing driver who has never won a WoO LMS A-Main and wasn’t among
the top 12 in the points standings. McCreadie moved up just one spot to finish
ninth and 17th-starter Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., rounded out the top 10.
There were no serious incidents during the race. Cautions were caused by Todd
Snook of Mifflin, Pa., who slid off the track on lap six; D.J. Myers of
Greencastle, Pa., who stopped in turn two on lap 15; and Gregg Satterlee of
Rochester Mills, Pa., who lost a wheel on laps 20 and 34.
Richards was quickest in Ohlins Shocks Time Trials, earning his series-leading
fourth fast-time honor of 2010 with a lap of 16.242 seconds.
Heat winners were Richards, Lanigan, Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., and Eckert,
and the B-Mains were captured by Clint Smith and Satterlee.
The WoO LMS Ohio-Pennsylvania Speedweek continues on Wednesday night (July 28)
at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. After an off-day on Thursday, the swing
visits Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park on Fri., July 30; Muskingum County Speedway
in Zanesville, Ohio, on Sat., July 31; and Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pa., on
Sun., Aug. 1.

Drummondville, QC-July 27, 2010- Steve Kinser has an amazing record
over the years when he visits a track for the first time with the World of Outlaws,
having scored well over 50 wins in debut events for the series. The 20-time
series champion added to that remarkable list on Tuesday night as he was
victorious in the World of Outlaws first-ever race at Autodrome Drummond in
Drummondville, Quebec, Canada before a standing room only crowd on a picture
perfect night.
Kinser started on the outside of the front row and battled his teammate
Donny Schatz in the early going, taking the top spot from him on the fifth lap
as the pair exited turn four, using the low side of the four-tenths-mile to
surge ahead. He would quickly pull away in lapped traffic. The native of
Bloomington, Indiana would pace the final 31 circuits of the 35-lap contest to
score his sixth A-Feature win of the season and the 558th of his amazing
career.
"It is special," said Kinser in Victory Lane of scoring
another inaugural event win. "I thought we may have been jinxed earlier
when Johnny (Gibson) said earlier how we have won a lot of races in our first
time at a track and I know we have, but you sort of hate hearing it before you
go out there. To get another first win is great."
Kinser was out front for three double file restarts and chose the low
line each and every time. He led Donny Schatz into turns one and two on the
first two and had Paul McMahan lined up on his outside on the final restart
with six laps remaining. Kinser used strong restarts each time to stay in front
aboard the Bass Pro Shops Maxim.
"The leader gets to set the pace with the line he chooses, so I
choked them down a bit and caught the moisture getting off (turn) four,"
explained the Hall of Famer. "I didn't want them to get up to speed and
get a run at me coming off four. They were pretty slow starts, but that's what
you have to do sometimes, pick a spot and do what you can."
Schatz, who led the first four laps of the race on Tuesday night, used
a strong restart on the 22nd lap to look high off turns one and two in his bid
for the lead. He used the same strategy on the following lap, but could not
quite make the pass. The final restart of the night would come with six laps
remaining, after Schatz stopped on the track with a mechanical problem while
running second.
"I didn't really know when to move back up and Donny (Schatz)
showed himself and I moved back up on top," Kinser noted. "Then I
started running out of fuel on the last five laps and didn't think I was going
to make it to the checker on the last lap. It was spitting and sputtering, but
we made and that's what matters."
Paul McMahan ended up second on Tuesday night to earn his 10th Top-Five
finish in the last 12 races, which is the most of any driver during that span.
The veteran started fourth in the Great Clips Maxim and ran in the Top-Five all
night, getting around Chad Kemenah late in the going for third, before moving
into second when Schatz dropped out.
"We've been real good," said McMahan. "The car was
awesome fast all night long. It's just great to be back in Canada. The fans are
great and it's unbelievable how packed the place is. Hopefully we'll be back
many times down the road."
Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point leader finished third
after lining up 11th in the Budweiser Maxim to earn the KSE Racing Products
Hard Charger Award. The second generation driver holds a 29-point advantage
over Kinser as he chases his first title.
"We were struggling with our car all night and weren't too bad in
the feature," said Saldana. "It's hard racing with these guys when
you start in the 11th spot and it's tough to make it up. We had a good solid
car and just came home third."
McMahan lined up on the outside of Kinser on the final restart with six
laps to go. He dove to the low side of turns one and two to no avail as he kept
pace with Kinser on the restart. Coupled with Saldana's third-place finish it
was the fourth time this season that both Kasey Kahne Racing cars have finished
on the podium on the same night.
"My motor wasn't taking off very good so I was trying to get down
to the bottom as fast as I could," shared McMahan. "I got down there
and had one shot at Steve (Kinser) and he was better than we were. I was
probably a third-place car until Donny (Schatz) broke. We came home second and
it was a great night for Kasey Kahne Racing."
Jason Meyers, who is currently third in points, finished fourth in the
GLR Investments KPC. Sam Hafertepe Jr. used a strong restart following the
lap-29 caution to power his way from 10th to fifth in the final six laps in the
Lone Star Speedway Maxim.
Chad Kemenah scored a sixth-place finish in the Golden Flavor Sesame
Sticks Maxim, with Kraig Kinser seventh in the Quaker State Maxim. Lucas Wolfe
was eighth in the Allebach Racing Maxim with Danny Lasoski ninth aboard the
Casey's General Stores Maxim. Jason Sides rounded out the Top-10 in the
Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, July 30 and Saturday,
July 31 at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada for a two-night
event.

Message From Buck Simmons
I went and saw Buck today. Buck really looked 100% better than he did the last
time i saw him. When we walked into his room, he was sitting up on his bed with
a big ole smile on his face. Buck said to tell everyone at the Lavonia &
Toccoa Speedway's he really appreciated the love offering that was taken up for
him. To all the 4m.net & racetrackforums.net Family.....Buck said the
Thoughts and Prayers is the reason he now has win #1,024. Buck is scheduled to
go Home Wednesday (July,28th). This will be just like an early Birthday gift to
him because the Living Legend turns 64 July 31.
I have had several messages from different folks here on 4m.net wanting to help
Buck out. If anyone wants to make any kind of offering to help buck out, you
can send it to me and i will personally make sure he gets it.

The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will head to the tradition rich
Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, Saturday for the 13th Annual Michael
Head Jr. Memorial.
The 54-lap / $5400 to win affair pays tribute to the late son of 1991 Southern
All Stars Dirt Racing Series Champion Mike Head, of Ellenwood, GA. Michael Head
Jr. was tragically murdered in April of 1997 in suburban Atlanta. The annual
fundraiser at the 1/3 mile red clay oval track, dubbed The Hornet's Nest,
benefits the Kayla Head Trust Fund. Kayla is Michael's daughter.
In August, Mike Head will be inducted into the National Dirt Racing Hall of
Fame.
Defending race winner Tim Busha, of Boaz, AL, captured his first-ever Southern
All Stars Dirt Racing Series victory at this same event in 2009 in an exciting
fashion after starting ninth and getting by Neil Baggett of Shannon, MS, on lap
thirty-three to take the lead for good and in the process topped a stellar
field of thirty-nine entries representing five states.
The 2010 edition of the Michael head Jr. Memorial is expected to recapture that
same level of excitement with drivers from the local, regional and national
level competing for over $20,000 in prize money including the winner’s share of
$5,400.
Local racing divisions in action on Saturday include: The Broiler Room
Sportsman, Crate late Models, Farmers Insurance IMCA Modifieds, Thunder 92.7 FM
Thundercars, Dorsey’s Supermarket Hot Shots, and Race City Travel Center Street
Stock. Racing action at 8:00PM. Grandstands $20 (kids 9 and under Free). www.TalladegaShortTrack.com www.SouthernAllStarsRacingSeries.com.
Dingus Griffin scored the win in a photo finish in Super Late Model action at
Talladega Short Track last Saturday Night. Griffin led the race early before
Busha jockeyed his was way up front in one of the best races of the 2010
season. Side by side racing from first on back throughout the thirty-lap
feature kept the fans on the edge of their seats.
Jason Hiett won the twenty-lap Crate Late Model feature event with Tim Staples
second and Adam Martin third.

Lanier has the 3rd Annual James Garrison Memorial, honoring the racing parts
supplier, Aug. 7. It's 100 laps for the pro LMs.
The pro late model turnout is strange this summer. Greshams had 19 show up May
15, and Lanier had 12 at Saturday's show. Only two drivers entered both races.
Greshams next pro LM show is Aug. 14, and the Jefferson High School Band and

Lanier Speedway: We have our first Track Champion of 2010. Amber Fleeman
clinched the Bandolero Outlaw Championship with her 3rd place run in the
Outlaws last night.
Saturday's winners: Christopher Tullis (Bando Bandit), Parker Barnes (Outlaw),
Russell Fleeman (Junkyard Dog), RS Senter (Legends Semi-Pro), Matthew Johnson
(Young Lion), Taylor Hull (Pro), Phillip Young (Master), James Nash (Mini
Stock), Jason Bates (Outlaw Late Model), Phillip Young (SuperTrucks).
Dwayne Buggay took the Lanier spotlight, beating pole sitter Russell Fleeman to
the line in The Red Top Auto Auction Super Six Series. Unfortunately, yet
another DQ - further back in the field - is looking to steal his thunder.
Buggay broke up Russell Fleeman's domination of the series, joining Shane
Sawyer as the only drivers to do so this season, with only one 2010 race now
remaining. Fleeman and Buggay lapped every other car in the 12-car field.
Tyler Speer initially finished third, but was tossed out in post-race technical
inspection for an illegal carburetor booster kit. That moved Michael Pilla up
to the top three.

Timmy Millwood and North Georgia Speedway welcomed the PPM Race Products
Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Models to their facility. 32 top
drivers representing 5 states registered in for the 40 lap, $3,000 to win,
feature race.
Fast qualifier Randy Weaver quickly took the lead on the start of the race and
would hold on, with Ronnie Johnson moving up and challenging him for the lead,
until a broken racecar would retire Weaver for the night. Johnson would lead
the rest of the 40 laps to take the checkered and the $3,000 jackpot. Second
place went to Riley Hickman followed by Derek Ellis (Chatsworth, GA), Skip Arp
(Georgetown, TN) and Brandon Kinzer (Allen, KY).

Secret Star of the NASCAR Race: The Best Run You Never Saw
For some, an eighteenth-place finish would be considered a major
disappointment. But when you're operating with one-tenth the budget of what the
big teams have, it means the world.
Just ask the Wood Brothers, whose team has spent the last two years hanging by
a thread as they rebuild their operation with funding from Motorcraft to run
just a dozen events. For them, a top-20 finish shows progress as they try and
form a foundation of notes to draw from for the future. That's exactly what
Bill Elliott pulled off on Sunday, just his second such run of the year in
driving the No. 21 Ford from 31st to 18th. Ending the day on the lead lap, it's
the first time he's done that since Atlanta in March.
But lower expectations don't ever take the fight out of the 1988 Cup champ,
seemingly disappointed despite a run that beat big guns Johnson, Gordon, and
even Montoya.
"At the beginning of the run I was just so loose," he said. "I
never could get the car tight enough. By the end of the run we were OK, but by
that time you lost so much ground to everybody else that you couldn't
run."
Looking on the bright side, the team's now in great shape to build a little
momentum in the season's second half. Their next race, Michigan, is Elliott's
favorite track. – Tom Bowles, The Frontstretch, 7/26/10
Gresham Motorsports Park is now selling tickets ($20) for the August 28 NASCAR
K&N Pro Series East 150 lap event.
It will mark the first time a NASCAR race has been held at Gresham Motorsports
Park since the mid 1980's. The Jefferson, GA track was opened as Jefco Speedway
with a NASCAR Sportsman (now Nationwide) Series event in 1967.

The bullring at Huntsville, AL, is for sale, but owner Martin Pierce tells www.Z3Sports.com that it will not close.
Dawn and Martin Pierce have operated Huntsville (AL) Speedway for the last five
years. Having moved from Florida to take over the quarter-mile oval, they are
now looking for “a little more freedom.”
The speedway - known for cleanliness and facilties better than most
quarter-mile weekly tracks - sits on 26 acres of leased land. Pierce owns the
structures and racing surface. Both are available to prospective buyers with
reasonable offers.
“I can’t stress it enough that we are not closing,” he said. “If a buyer is not
secured, then we will cut back our schedule slightly, but we are not closing.” http://www.z3sports.com

“Man, this is cool to get a Southern Nationals Series win at Volunteer
Speedway,” said Georgia racer Jonathan Davenport, after climbing from his car
in victory lane with a big smile on his face. “It’s a blast racing around these
high banks. Everybody knows about ‘The Gap’ and to now be able to say I’ve won
a race here, it’s awesome. We had a really good car here tonight. We were fast
right from the start during hot laps and then we backed it up with fast-time in
qualifying to nail down the pole position. During the race I just couldn’t have
asked for a better driving car.
“This is a new Barry Wright Race Car we debuted earlier this week when we won
at East Alabama Motor Speedway, and we ran awfully well with it last night at
Cleveland (Tenn.) Speedway, too. We really should have won that race, but we
got tangled up with an (idiot) who wasn’t driving past the air cleaner on his
hood and it took us out of the race. So it’s awesome to have this strong run
here to victory tonight, it’s just a statement of how good this race team is. I
want to dedicate this win to

Cochran Speedway has racing in all local classes Saturday.
Last week Montie Vaughn Won Big In the Sportsman Summer Sizzler!
With a full moon looming in the sky overhead, 78 cars packed the pits, and the
grandstands were full of fans. The feature races got under way with the $1,000
dollar to win sportsman race. The "Rentz Ga Bad Boy"Danny Earl
Warren, took off to a commanding lead until contact with a lapped car sent him
to the rear. The race restarted with Lizella, Ga's, Montie Vaughn in the lead
only to be briefly challenged by the C4 machine of Charlie Waller. Robert
Etheridge battled past Waller to capture second position. Vaughn had no trouble
holding on to the win followed by Etheridge and Waller.
The second feature of the night was the Purestock division, in which Darrel
Dunn of Milledgeville started on the front row beside "Scooter"
Smith. This race saw many cautions due to many incidents in the back of the
pack, but nothing could slow Dunn down as he held on for his first win of the
year. Scooter Smith finished second behind Dunn in his #96 machine followed by
Danny Rycroft with his best run of the year.
Ricky Culpepper dominated the Latemodel event from the pole over a large field
of latemodels. Dublin drivers Eric Baggett and Blake Smith battled throughout
the race followed closely by the veteran Dennis Mcdaniel. The race was only slowed
twice for the caution. Culpepper went on to win followed by last weeks winner,
Stevie Jones. Eric Bagget came home third in the #27 Dublin Tire machine. By

Murphy driver Jamie Oliver returned to Tri-County after running on the Super
Late Model circuit the last two weeks and out dueled the eight car field for
another victory. Robbinsville driver Preston Crisp had his best finish of the
year with a strong second place finish on the super fast clay oval. Danny
Ledford blasted his way through the field for third after being sent to the
back of the pack when he got into the back of Bobby Panter on the back stretch,
spinning both cars. Panter was fourth and Doug Sneed rounded out the top five.
After qualifying, only three cars made the starting line up in the GM
Performance Late Model feature but it was the best race of the night when Young
Harris’s Tony Ledford jumped to the lead as Sam Parris and Kevin Bradshaw were
inches behind for 20 of the 25 laps. Blue Ridge’s Sam Parris went to the high
groove, rim riding the out side wall and moved to the front for the last five
laps for his first win of the season. Jason Deal was credited with fourth
place.
Tri-County is taking this week off for vacation and returns August 7th with the
100 mph Georgia Mini Sprints and racing in all classes.

Larry Harrod, of Plains, GA, took his third win of the season on Tuesday night
at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the Harrod Logging Scorpion. “The Big
Tree” moved up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series East Region standings with 629 points. Harrod now has three wins and
nine top five finishes in ten starts. www.nesmithracing.com
Next up at Gresham Motorsports Park will be a 100-lap Pro Late Model event on
Saturday, August 14. The Pro Lates have competed at GMP twice this season with
Chase Elliott winning April 17 and David Odell on May 15. Support divisions
include the Outlaw Late Models, Trucks, Renegades, Mini Stocks, and Mini-Cups. www.GreshamMotorsportsPark.com
Next at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is a $2500 to win 125-lap pro late
model race Aug. 14. The All American 400 is Oct. 2-3. www.fairgroundsspeedwaynashville.com
Chase Elliott got some Sprint Cup type experience on Monday in the CRA Super
Series Red Bud 300 at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway. He got to race wheel-to-wheel
with Kyle Busch, and he wound up getting a taste of how Juan Pablo Montoya felt
after making a four-tire pit stop late in the Brickyard 400.
Elliott was among the top five in practice, and he qualified fifth behind
pole-sitter Kyle Busch for the main event.
He took the white flag in sixth position, but as he made a move that could have
given him the fourth position, he was collected in another driver's wreck and
wound up finishing 10th.
Scott Hantz wins one of the wildest races in recent memory, according to www.speed51.com
Happy Birthday to Will Prance, of Canton, Aug. 12, and he's celebrating his
home schooled high school graduation too. For the Legends Million in Charlotte,
Burke B. Murph II and New York LIfe Insurance Company in Valdosta sponsored
Will's car, and Murph was there with the team.
Will qualified 19th of 146 cars, and started on the outside pole of his heat,
but was wrecked - missing the feature which paid $250,000 to win.
He'll make five starts in his pro asphalt late model this year. http://www.burkemurph.com/index.cfm

Max Gresham, of Griiffin, races Friday at Lee (CT) Speedway in his Joe Gibbs
Toyota in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. He already has two wins in the
Series this year. Two weeks ago he led 110 of 200 laps to win his first ARCA
race at Mansfield, OH. http://www.maxgresham.com
Andrew Smith, of Pooler, and the Spraker Racing #37 team head north once again
as they will try and outrun the bad luck that has plagued them during 2010
season. They will also hit the 3/8 mile oval of the Lee USA Speedway on Friday,
July 31 for an all out battle with the rest of the K&N Pro drivers for the
win. The Series visits Greshams Aug. 28.
He will return to the red clay of the Oglethorpe Speedway, in Pooler, GA on
Tuesday, Aug. 31, as he competes in the annual Race for the Shrine benefit
event. Andrew will be competing in three divisions for this event. Not only
will he race in the 440 and Late Model divisions, he will also be pitted
against fellow NASCAR driver David Ragan - along with local
"celebrities" in a special challenge race in the Pure Stock Division.
Should be a blast! http://www.andrewsmithracing.com/
Promotion idea: Meridian Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Meridian, ID, has
created a Junior Stinger division, which allows ages 11-14 to compete in
4-cylinder cars, and it has been well received as 16 drivers have already
earned points this season.
How about when fans asked the ARCA representatives in Toledo about
the price of PIT passes and charging people $80.00 for them when they knew the
track was letting you in the pits for free....Thats the pits....Way to Go
Car owner Jack Roush was injured when the business jet he was flying made a hard landing Tuesday night in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Associated Press reported that Roush Fenway Racing President Geoff Smith said via a text that Roush walked away from the crash but he did suffer unspecified injuries and might require surgery. The AP did report that Roush suffered facial lacerations.
NASCAR officials encouraged drivers to express themselves more at the beginning of this season, telling them they were loosening the reins on the drivers. Now comes word through this Associated Press story that NASCAR has fined two “star drivers,’’ including one as much as $50,000 for “comments that were deemed destructive to the industry.’’

Ambrose to leave JTG Daugherty at end of 2010Marcos
Ambrose and JTG Daugherty have announced plans to end their NASCAR partnership
at the end of 2010 Cup season.
The anticipation of the Camping World Truck Series arriving at Pocono Raceway has been building for more than 10 months and for good reason.
The back-to-basics approach seems to work for Ron Hornaday and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. Camping World Truck Series team.
Ricky Carmichael endured significant growing pains last season as a rookie in the Camping World Truck Series.
CLERMONT, Ind. -- This time, there was no controversial finish.
CLERMONT, Ind. -- Trevor Bayne became the second driver to win consecutive poles at O'Reilly Raceway Park when his fast lap of 110.117 mph topped the speeds in qualifying.
While the simmering feud between Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski earned each NASCAR probation and cost Edwards points and money, the fallout from last weekend's last-lap game of one-upmanship between the two extended all the way to a little race shop in Warsaw, Ind.
Friday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Carl Edwards reiterated something that he made abundantly clear with his actions last weekend outside of St. Louis -- he's not going to let anybody push him around.
Lost in the final-lap dustup between Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski in last week's Nationwide Series race at Gateway was a career-best, third-place finish by Trevor Bayne.
NASCAR team owner Jack Roush was in serious but stable condition after walking away from a plane crash in Wisconsin on Tuesday night.
NASCAR has fined at least two of its star drivers this season for making critical comments about the racing series, The Associated Press has learned.
Marcos Ambrose has decided to leave JTG Daugherty Racing at the end of the season, the team announced Tuesday.
In the 100-year history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, no driver has won three consecutive races in Indy's signature events. And Jimmie Johnson's attempt to become the first to capture three Brickyard 400 trophies in a row met with similar results.
Jamie McMurray's victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday provided a slight boost to his hopes of qualifying for NASCAR's year-end championship playoff. The Brickyard 400 win lifted the Earnhardt Ganassi driver two positions in the standings, and pulled him within 151 points of the final berth in the Chase.
With straightaways only 50 feet wide and turns banked at fewer than 10 degrees, negotiating the venerable Indianapolis Motor Speedway's ribbon-like asphalt at speed is already the perfect recipe for single-file racing. But add to that the turbulence from running directly behind another car, and it compounds the problem of passing.
At the Brickyard 400, a good car will get you a decent finish. But it takes a great car to win.
Team owner Rick Hendrick won't force Mark Martin out of his seat next year to make room for Kasey Kahne at Hendrick Motorsports.
Not even a full circuit had been completed in Sunday's Brickyard 400 and Kyle Busch was already off track, literally.
Car owner Chip Ganassi got the expected result from an unexpected source in Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as race winner Jamie McMurray joined one of Cup racing's most exclusive clubs.
NASCAR appears ready to give its 2011 Cup Series schedule a facelift.
Juan Montoya, Mark Martin and Kasey Kahne are the names most mentioned when it comes to drivers with the best chance of recording their first Brickyard 400 victory on Sunday. Perhaps it's time to add Jeff Burton to that list.
Jacques Villeneuve stood in the broiler that was the concrete of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway garage area Saturday afternoon, his arms crossed, shifting from one foot to another. Media surrounded the former Indianapolis 500 champion, but no one asked a question -- not yet.
Juan Montoya took advantage of an early qualifying draw and a slightly conservative approach from Jimmie Johnson to win the pole for Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as Chevrolets claimed nine of the first 10 starting spots.
The list of winners at NASCAR's second most prominent event on the schedule is short -- only nine different drivers have won the Brickyard 400 since its inception in 1994.
Sam Hornish Jr. doesn't know where he'll be racing next season.
Kevin Harvick knows what it means to win the Brickyard 400 and the emotions that surround the highly coveted victory.
The question hangs over Mark Martin like the white, puffy cumulus clouds hung over Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday. He's said it, he's reiterated it, he's become passionate about it, he's gotten angry over it, and still people wonder -- what will Mark Martin do next season?
Jacques Villeneuve had some pretty impressive success at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the last time he tackled the oval, so why not give it a try in stock cars?
When you kick off Brickyard 400 weekend with Indiana National Guardsmen singing karaoke on the plaza and Jeff Gordon on the drums, you know it's going to be a good show.
Michael Waltrip Racing on Friday announced that it has signed agreements extending its relationships with driver David Reutimann and primary sponsor Aaron's, Inc., on the No. 00 Toyota through the 2012 Sprint Cup Series season.
Jeff Gordon will take any kind of win he can get right now. After all, it has been 48 races since his last Sprint Cup Series victory.
